Bigger Than The Man, starring Erik Narwhal, directed by Brett Davey.
My coworker Don DeMaio had a role in Bigger
Than The Man, an independent movie made in Providence. I shot
and edited this five-minute video of the June 2000 premiere and
of the star's band, Erik
Narwhal and the Manatees. There are three performances of
the theme song cut together: at RISD Auditorium just before
the premiere, at the City Hall press conference with Mayor Cianci
announcing the movie, and in the soundtrack behind the movie's
closing credits. There's some other footage in there too.
The video was ready in time for the second showing of the movie, and the film's director played
it beforehand as an introduction. Apparently, it was well-received, and the director played it afterwards
as well. (I missed the whole thing because I was at sea on an unexpectedly long kayak trip.)
It was my first time editing a video with Premiere, and probably as a result it's a
little cheesy at the beginning, but it gets better near the end.
(Speaking of the end, you can catch a glimpse of Don in character near it.)
The MPEG-4 version requires QuickTime 6 or another MPEG-4-compatible player. If you're
using a player other than QuickTime, this bare movie link
may make it easier to view.
